Good Weekend

Well, my fist week of school went great so I decided to celebrate this weekend-I went to see Underworld:Evolution and The Chronicles of Narnia.

Underworld: Evolution met my low expectations so I thought it was okay. It was a good guilty pleasure (you all know my love of any Vampire movie). But I have to admit I totally envied Kate Beckensale through the whole thing. No matter how much I keep this running crap up I will never, ever, look like that in leather, plastic, or any hybrid of the two, which was kind of depressing.

The Chronicles of Narnia, however, kind of disappointed me. Maybe I'm just getting past the point that I can watch movies that beat you over the head with messages, symbolism, and plot progression. Obviously I prefer crap with huge plot holes that make it confusing, at best.

I'm hoping to go see Munich tonight. Maybe that will leave a better taste than the others.

First Day of School--Again

Well, it's the first day of the second semester which means:

1. I have to start getting up at 6 am to get ready. Yuck. I already feel ill.

2. I have to start planning slow cooker meals on Monday and Wednesday morning so I don't end up eating fast food and candy when I get home at 8 pm.

3. I'll have to tell a kid to shut his/her trap at least four times a week. Despite the lecture on class room behavior I'll give today...and this is college!!

4. That my car will become even more of a pig sty as I chuck empty fast food and candy wrappers into the back seat. In two weeks I won't be able to see out my window...

5. That I'll be able to call my blogger friends on my long drive home. (This means you, HotBabe. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back with you!)

6. ...And I'll love every minute of it.

Wish me luck!!!

LOST

No, not the show...my day last Friday.

Zak's cousin's car broke down in PA on her way to MI about a month ago. So I got stuck with the job of driving her back up to the PA turnpike to turn in her rental car. That's one of the down sides of having a job with a nice long winter break-the influx of favors during that time.

Anywho, the drive up was nice. I got to break in my new iPod so I wasn't complaining...yet. However, miss cousin had failed to print off directions or any type of map to the Enterprise Rent-A-Car place so we ended up driving around Breezewood, PA for about an hour and half and being attacked by geese before actually finding the place and returning the car.

Then, fed up by this time, I called Zak to give us directions back to DC. "Take 99 N to hit 70S" he says? "North?!" I question. "Yes", he assures me. Well after driving about 45 minutes North all the way to Altoona, PA I finally realize that I really should have taken South in the first place and had to double back. Thus, a 5 hour round trip turned into a 9 hour round trip.

Ugh. I need a GPS system stat.

Remus? Is that you?

Okay, so if you're not a Harry Potter fan you probebly don't get the title of this post but oh well...

I'm pretty sure my neighbor is a werewolf and it's starting to really freak me out. I haven't timed up of the astrological phenominon yet but every month the guy freaks out in his apartment. We can hear him through out the night and early morning yelling and screaming. Really. It's quite frightening. He yells, what seem to be, strange obscenities and every so often there's some banging around. Again, it usually only happens one night a month. However, this last time it continued well into the morning...so maybe he's just crazy? I don't know but the humor of it has started to wear off. Is he getting drunk once a month? Is it demons? Maybe he sees dead people-that seems to be in vogue right now.

Hair Update

Oh Happy Day!

I got my haircut on Tuesday and I actually like it!! This is the first time in about 5 years that this phenomenon has happened. The woman who cut my hair was very nice-not to chatty-and actually listened to what I wanted! She only took off the two inches I asked for and then gave me some nice long layers in the back and front. It's just a nice updated version of my usual blanket of hair.

So, here's to you Karina at Bubbles Salon. You're my hero for the week.

ps-I STILL need to get a digital camera so I can post pictures faster. Be ready for a photo montage when I finally get my pictures developed.
